Urban Colours

I'm hopeless with paints but I've always been interested in colour. My degree is in Textile Dyeing & Chemistry and I worked for a printing ink company before starting nbNg.

One of my current fascinations is the way nature colours metals in the urban environment.

Silver is quite a boring metal colourwise. Industrial metals, copper, brass, bronze, iron, even lead have so many more options. Often it takes time for these colours to develop, changing with exposure to air, water, even polution.

Many might see this as a degradation, but many more see the beauty in these changes.

I'm currently exploring patination and how it can enhance a piece. I'm going back 20 years to my chemistry days, but the results are really exciting.
